How these records are organized
Federal fields group FEC financial records by office. Withdrawn, historical, primary and special-election candidates may appear together; ballot certification is separate. No forecasts or race-wide money totals are calculated. Governor fields distinguish current officeholders from reviewed candidates. Connected state accounts show their own filed totals and coverage; other states retain source-directory links.
FEC candidate totals already combine authorized campaign committees. Records can have different reporting dates. Missing values are not zero. This is a comparison of reports, not a ranking of electoral strength.
Coverage
Current and previous collected federal cycles. House districts and Senate states are taken from candidate office fields, not mailing addresses. Senate records are grouped by state because this feed does not distinguish every seat or special election. Unrecognized geographic values are withheld from the field browser and counted above; their raw records remain on the Money desk.
